Eric Houck’s photo, Blue Moon Tree was recognized as NASA’s photo of the day on March 28, 2018. The photo was taken out on Willms Road and features a blue moon cradled by a lone tree. A blue moon is a second full moon in a calendar month. Nature waits for no one and Eric was no exception, as the moon quickly ascended Eric had to adjust. For the acclaimed shot, he was lying in the mud with his camera resting on the barbed wire fence! Check out the photo at: apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap180328.html

Knights Ferry school’s 5th-8th graders finally went on their Dodge Ridge field trip. A good time was had by all and everyone returned safely. The annual ski field trip is a very special trip because it may be the only time the some of the students will ski or snowboard. There were even a few first timers! It was incredibly hot and some of the students got a little sunburned but the entire day was filled with smiles. Thank you Brandy Mangante for helping to organize the field trip!

The first graders visited the Mangante orchard for a field trip. Bowen Sundberg said they learned about harvest. He said, “Harvest is when they shake the trees and then the nuts fall off and they come sweep them, wash them, then they send them all over the world.”

The Easter bunny visited the school on Thursday and left a trail of bunny prints all the way up the hill. He was gone by the time the kids got to school but they did enjoy seeing the bunny trail! The Easter egg hunt and class parties were enjoyed in the sunshine and now the kids are on Spring Break.

Sunrise service at the Frymire Ranch was blessed with gorgeous weather and a well-attended service. Well over 100 people flocked to the Frymire Ranch, many for the first time to experience a very unique church service. The Randy Mandy Band and company led fellowship with traditional Easter Sunday hymns with a bit of Randy Mandy influence. Pastor Henry Raven gave a short but sweet sermon about love as everyone admired the wooden cross kissed by the sun rising over the mountains. Carmen Frymire brought much of the crowd to tears as she spoke about the love she and her late husband, Phil shared for over 60 years. Carmen said they have invited everyone to their home for the past 42 years and will continue to do so for as long as they can.
