Knights Ferry was packed all weekend! Sheatherfest was in full swing bringing in singers, bands, and crowds from all over the country (there may have been a few from out of the country too)! People sat in chairs and blankets on the grassy hill of the River’s Edge listening to bands play on the gazebo stage next to the river. I really liked the simple wooden Sheatherfest 2023 sign hung at the top of the gazebo. Rick’s Saloon hosted a few bands in the evenings. The Art Studio held additional activities including henna tattoos, tarot readings, a tie dye station, and a Blackwing sketch booth. You could hear the music all through town and I saw a few locals enjoying the music from their front yard!

The Pumpkin Roll is on Sunday, November 5th at the Knights Ferry Community Club! Pumpkin Roll sign-ups begin at 10:45am and the girls and boys ages 0-5 will begin to roll at 12pm. One question I am asked fairly often is if participants need to bring their own pumpkin to roll and the answer is no, the pumpkins are provided! The Club accepts donations for people who would like to participate but there is no set fee. The Pumpkin Roll is a fundraiser for the Community Club. They do things such as provide scholarships for graduating seniors headed to college and hold community events to bring friends and families together in the area. So far, the weather looks to be cooperating for Sunday. This is a reminder for large trucks and trailers or rigs to plan for an alternative route if you need to drive through Knights Ferry in the late morning to early afternoon. The Main Street is closed and the side streets may be tough to navigate with tight turns and oncoming traffic.

On Saturday, November 11th from 10am-3pm is the Salmon Festival held in the river park on the south side of the river. The day is dedicated to the salmon and their habitat. They will have booths for children to do activities to learn about animals and nature. One booth I remember they had last year was a booth with fake animal poop! It was interesting to see the different shapes and sizes of animal poop. I noticed a bit of animal poop while walking along the trails and wondered what kind of animal was nearby!
