This past Saturday, October 17, the ladies of the Knights Ferry History and Museum Associates hosted the seventh annual Knight at the Museum. Miller’s Hall was open from 5pm-8pm, complete with a last-minute repaired elevator lift! All of the shops within Miller’s Hall were open, and guests wandered from room to room, taking in the various businesses housed within the historic building.

All proceeds go to maintenance of the Miller’s Hall which houses the Post Office, the Knights Ferry Creamery, the Knights Ferry Read & Return, the Museum, the Knights Ferry Art Studio, and Knights Ferry Vintage - which sells Knights Ferry postcards, magnets, stickers and other items. This fundraiser is a continued effort on the part of some very dedicated and caring individuals to maintain Knights Ferry’s history. Their other main fundraiser is the Gold Country Peddlers Faire which is held the last weekend in April.

As guests entered the Museum, they were greeted by a table filled with delectable treats. Inside, an impressive array of appetizers and wine awaited, giving everyone a chance to snack, sip, and enjoy the Museum’s historic displays.

The Knights Ferry Art Studio hosted live music featuring Knights Ferry’s own Rita Taylor, among others. Artist Matt Shumaker generously donated a gorgeous original painting of the Knights Ferry Covered Bridge, which was auctioned off to benefit the Museum. There was also a very successful raffle featuring baskets filled with all sorts of goodies, raising over $700.

It was a really lovely night in Knights Ferry. Kids ran around laughing and playing while adults visited and caught up with friends and neighbors. We all had such a nice time, and it was a wonderful reminder of how special these little community gatherings can be. There’s something really nice about an evening spent simply enjoying our town and each other’s company.

A huge thank you to all of the ladies of the Knights Ferry Historical Society for putting together such a wonderful event. We look forward to next year!
