A Thursday afternoon accident, April 16, resulted in injuries to one driver involved. According to the CHP, the crash occurred just after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of River Road and Sawyer Avenue. A 50-year-old Oakdale man was driving a 2007 Toyota pick-up eastbound on River Road approaching Sawyer as a 51-year-old Riverbank man was driving a 2002 Toyota sedan westbound on River Road. Authorities said the preliminary investigation indicates the pick-up truck driver failed to yield the right of way and turned his pickup to the left to proceed northbound on Sawyer Avenue, directly into the path of the sedan. The front of the sedan struck the right side of the pickup. The sedan had major front end damage and the pickup had moderate right side damage. The driver of the sedan was taken by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center with moderate injuries, lacerations and abrasions. The pick-up truck driver and a 16-year-old male passenger in the truck were uninjured. Authorities said all involved were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
