Free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs will be offered during February and March at local libraries in Riverbank and Oakdale. Volunteers, trained and certified by the IRS, will provide the tax preparation assistance.

The program is scheduled on Wednesdays, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Riverbank Library, 3442 Santa Fe St., Riverbank starting on Feb. 1. Call 209-869-7008 for an appointment.

In Oakdale, the program will be offered on Thursdays, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Oakdale Library, 151 S. First Ave., Oakdale starting on Feb. 2. Call 209-847-4204 for an appointment.

Taxpayers will be given an appointment time to complete an intake form and drop off tax documents. Tax preparation will be completed off-site by certified volunteer tax preparers, with completed returns available for pick-up the following week. Appointment times are limited, so interested parties are urged to call for an appointment as soon as possible.
