The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Oct. 6 through Monday, Oct. 12. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
SUNDAY, OCT. 11
3:22 p.m. – Grass 30, Grass/Water Tender 27 and Battalion Chief 5 responded with Cal Fire TCU to a reported vegetation fire near Highway 4 and Milton Road. Cal Fire Engine 4482 and AA 440 located an extinguished fire and canceled the balance of the response.
SATURDAY, OCT. 10
11:49 a.m. – Engine 28 and BC 5 responded to a reported vehicle on fire in the City of Oakdale. BC5 arrived to find nothing showing and began to investigate. The fire was located in the passenger compartment and was extinguished with a dry chemical extinguisher.
FRIDAY, OCT. 9
Crews rotated through the MCST Training Facility to participate in fourth quarter EMS refresher training
5:05 p.m. – Engine 28 responded to a mobile pizza oven trailer on fire on Albers Road. Crews quickly contained the fire.
THURSDAY, OCT. 8
7:04 p.m. – Modesto Engines 27, 28, 29, and Battalion 1, (who was attending a meeting in Valley Home), responded to a vehicle accident involving a person possibly trapped inside a vehicle on Highway 4 at Milton Road. Crews arrived to find a delivery van that had left the roadway, colliding with a sign, the solo occupant was trapped inside the vehicle. Crews extricated the patient, then assisted with preparing the patient for transport via air ambulance to an area hospital.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 7
1:40 p.m. – Modesto Engine 28, Engine 30, Battalion 5 and Oak Valley Ambulance and Stanislaus Sheriff responded to a report of a truck that had run over a person’s leg in the 12000 block of Sierra View Drive in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene and located the patient in an almond orchard. The patient had gotten off of an almond sweeper to check on equipment when the sweeper continued forward and rolled over the patient’s legs. An Air Ambulance was requested as the patient sustained a major injury. Engine 28, Battalion 5 and Oak Valley treated the patient and prepared for transport as Engine 30 set up a landing zone for the helicopter.
10:20 p.m. – Modesto Engine 28 and Oak Valley Ambulance responded to a traumatic injury on South Yosemite in Oakdale for a patient who had steam burns. Engine 27 and Battalion 5 responded to Oak Valley Hospital to secure a landing zone. Patient was flown out to a trauma center by Reach 2 Air Ambulance.
TUESDAY, OCT. 6
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and BC5 assisted Oakdale PD with their National Night Out. This year a drive through type solution was initiated and PPE worn.
