A mild fall morning would prove to be just what the Run Doctor ordered as close to 2700 elementary school students of Oakdale Joint Unified School District took to their respective fields for the annual Jog-a-Thon on Friday, Oct. 9.
From the little feet of Transitional Kindergarten students to the ever growing sixth grader, student bodies of all four campuses ran, jogged and walked laps in an effort of raising funds for the respective campus.
Fair Oaks with the largest student body number in the district brought in over $41,000 for its Parent Teacher Club. A total of over $144,000 was collected between the four campuses. Sierra View reported a total of over $38,000; Cloverland earned a total of $31,000 and Magnolia collected over $34,000.
The proceeds from the student fundraiser is used by the Parent Teacher Clubs for a number of student-related activities including offering assistance for Sixth Grade Outdoor Education. The annual event is also aimed at promoting physical fitness, school spirit and pride.
