Members of the Orange Blossom 4-H speech project competed at the Central Area speech day on Saturday April 1, 2017. The event was hosted by San Joaquin County at Waterloo School in Stockton. Members from all counties in the Central Area, which stretches from Yolo County all the way to Madera, had qualified in their counties with gold awards in order to compete at the area level. The Orange Blossom members who competed were Cailee Flood, Ashley Tran, Audrey Tran, and Molly Terpstra. All four members were awarded gold medals. Ashley Tran and Molly Terpstra were asked back to give a command performance. Also that day, members could compete in the plant science contest. It consisted of plant judging, identifying different plants, and taking a written test on plants and agriculture. Molly Terpstra won first place in the junior plant science competition. The whole speech group did an amazing job at the area speech day. All four members of the Orange Blossom speech group will have an opportunity to compete in State 4-H Presentation day on May 27th at UC Davis.
