Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 1-4-23

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Dec. 27 through Monday, Jan. 2. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, JAN. 2

The decision was made to activate the Type 3 Incident Management Team (Central Valley IMT) to assist in planning and preparation of the storm systems we are anticipating hitting our region throughout the next 14 days.

Battalion 2: All SCFPD command staff participated in the Central Valley IMT3 activation for 2023 Storm activity.

Battalion 5: MST crews conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.

 

SUNDAY, JAN. 1

Battalion 2: Crews spent the shift checking areas of concern with the recent rains. Stanislaus and Tuolumne rivers looked good in the areas checked. Dry Creek is the immediate concern.

Battalion 5: E27 and T5 completed probationary Truck training.

E29 and E28 conducted Boat training on the river near Orange Blossom.

10:05 p.m. – Engines 27, 28, 26, Quint 22, Truck 5 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to the 300 block of South Oak Ave for a fire alarm. Crews arrived with nothing showing and went into investigative mode. As crews were preparing for high rise operations, staff advised of a false alarm. The response was canceled.

 

SATURDAY, DEC. 31

Throughout the Modesto Fire Department service area, crews responded to multiple storm related emergencies.

MST crews completed end of the year training and weekly station maintenance.

Battalion 5: No time listed – E28, E27 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to the area of Albers and Patterson roads. Crews arrived with two vehicles involved. A total of four people were transported to local hospitals.

 

FRIDAY, DEC. 30

Crews continued to finish end of year training and projects assigned.

Battalion 2: 12:36 a.m. – Stanislaus E26, Modesto E7, E9, E27, SQ11, T5, BC1 and BC5 responded to a barn fire in the 3100 block of Minniear Road. Crews arrived on scene and found a barn with heavy fire involvement with no other structures threatened. Due to advanced fire conditions crews maintained a defensive fire attack from the exterior of the structure. FIU was on scene conduct an origin and cause investigation.

 

THURSDAY, DEC. 29

Battalion 2: Stanislaus E26, E23, and BC2 attended pre-fire planning meeting at the Riverbank Ammo Plant.

Battalion 5: E27 worked on PPE inventory.

E28 tested Knox access at a new construction site within the Oakdale Rural Fire District.

 

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 28

Battalion 2: All stations conducted Engine and Station maintenance.

E26 performed rope rescue training. E26 and Q22 performed ladder and aerial operations training at the Del Rio restaurant building.

5:59 p.m. – E26 responded to the 1700 block of Prestwick for a subject with difficulty breathing. On arrival they found a female who had a complete airway obstruction from food, The subject was in full respiratory arrest, the Heimlich was performed by FF26, rescue breathing was conducted, the patient was transported with fire in attendance, when the patient was transferred to the hospital, she was breathing on her own.

Battalion 5: Crews continued to finish up end of year training and tasks.

9 a.m. – Modesto E9, T5, E27 and E28 conducted probationary firefighter training in Station 28’s area. Crews worked on various skill sets preparing the firefighters for their upcoming skills test.

2:38 p.m. – Modesto E28, BC5 and Stanislaus E23 responded to Claribel Road and Albers Road for a three-vehicle collision. Crews arrived on scene and found three vehicles with all occupants out of the vehicles. Crews treated one occupant who had moderate injuries. The patient was transported to an area hospital for further care. CHP was on scene investigating.

8:34 p.m. – Modesto E29 and BC5 responded to the 12000 block of Horseshoe Road for an EMS call regarding an unresponsive subject.

 

TUESDAY, DEC. 27

Battalion 2: E26 was requested by an elderly homeowner in the 2900 block of Marsh Creek in Riverbank to assist with changing a battery in a smoke detector.

Battalion 5: MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.
