A 26-year-old Oakdale woman died in a two-vehicle accident Sunday evening, Oct. 25 after her car, for unknown reasons, drifted into the path of a 2014 Freightliner truck.

The woman was identified as Mikayla Agee-Mathewson and, according to the California Highway Patrol report, she was eastbound on Highway 108 when the crash occurred about 7:15 p.m.

CHP officers said she was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Impala and was near Mondo Lane, between Oakdale and Riverbank, when she allowed the vehicle to travel off the roadway and subsequently lost control.

The Chevrolet then slid sideways across the roadway, into the westbound lane of traffic, directly into the path of the 2014 Freightliner that was westbound on Highway 108.

The front of the Freightliner struck the passenger side of the Chevrolet. The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old man from Demorest, Georgia, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A passenger, a 63-year-old woman from Demorest, had a complaint of pain but was not transported.

Despite first responders’ best efforts, Agee-Mathewson was declared dead on the scene.

Authorities said all three of those involved were wearing their seatbelts.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident and the crash remains under investigation.
