OakdaleARTS will celebrate the completion of its eighth mural in Oakdale on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. at Story Books & Toys, 150 S. Second Ave. The public is invited to meet the muralist and learn more about murals and public art in Oakdale.

San Francisco-based muralist and fine artist Nora Bruhn has spent recent weeks painting the mural on the north side of the Story Books & Toys building, wrapping around the corner. The mural, visible from the entrance of the Bianchi Community Center in Oakdale, is known for its dramatic, large-scale floral imagery and immersive botanical style — a signature Bruhn has brought to murals across the United States and Europe.

Inspired by California’s natural beauty and her rural Minnesota roots, Bruhn’s work celebrates the color, texture, and life-affirming beauty found in nature. In addition to murals, she creates fine art paintings and operates a community art studio in San Francisco called The Nest.

OakdaleARTS is a nonprofit/community organization dedicated to bringing public art to the city of Oakdale. Since 2020, the organization has commissioned eight murals throughout the city, working with local and visiting artists to celebrate creativity and enrich public spaces.
