BATTLE OF 120
O cup1

Meeting at midfield prior to kickoff in The Corral at Oakdale on Friday night, Sept. 15, Oakdale Mayor Cher Bairos and Escalon Mayor Pro Tem Andy Hagan shook hands as the new 120 Cup was displayed. Before the official handshake, Trudy Vierra of Oakdale showed the trophy to the crowd, making sure fans on each side got to see it.

Escalon will keep the cup for a year, courtesy of their 41-21 victory over the host Mustangs. The schools are in different counties, Escalon in San Joaquin and Oakdale in Stanislaus, as well as different leagues, but agreed to the preseason contest.

It was a fan favorite and one that Mayor Bairos said she hopes will occur each year, with the perpetual trophy going to the winner at the end of each contest. Once this year's final score is engraved, the trophy will go to Escalon and be displayed at the high school.
