The Sonora Bach Festival will present the Sonora Bach Festival Trio and a brunch prepared by Chef Dave Ingram on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 12:30 p.m.
The food and music event will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 24176 Pine Lake Drive, Sugar Pine. The Sonora Bach Festival will conclude its 42nd Festival with a brunch catered by Chef Dave Ingram and a performance by the Bach Festival Trio. The event will be held in the fellowship hall of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church located 15 miles east of Sonora in the Stanislaus National Forest. The event will feature not only a complete brunch but also a performance by the Sonora Bach Festival Trio consisting of music from the Baroque and Classical periods for two flutes and cello.
“This is a wonderful way to end the month’s events”, said Diane Wright, Board Chairman. “The food is wonderful, creative and extensive. The music is delightful and the setting is calm and beautiful.”
Chef Dave Ingram of “Chef Dave Cooks” caters the brunch. He has prepared a menu of nine different items including two different entrees, including one Vegetarian. Chef Dave has 36 years of experience preparing a multitude of cuisine styles from simple comfort food to gourmet. His goal, as he says on his website, is to provide “the freshest, healthiest meals that dazzle your taste buds.”
Marilyn Hobbs, event coordinator for the brunch said “The menu Chef Dave has prepared looks so interesting and appetizing and a great bargain for the price.”
For this brunch, Chef Dave has prepared the following: Fresh Fruit Salad with Honey-Yogurt Dressing, Baby Kale and Cranberry Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette, Spinach Sun-Dried Tomato and Feta Frittata, Bacon and Ham, Custard-Filled Cornbread with Maple Syrup, Roasted Red Potatoes with Onions in Olive Oil, Braised Chicken Breasts in Mushroom Sauce, California Steamed Veggies, and Apple Swirl Cobbler with Whipped Cream and Caramel Sauce.
The Bach Festival Trio consists of Sandra Betti, flute; Janet Telford, flute; and Ralph Retherford, cello. The three local musicians have played together frequently in the Central Mother Lode and at the Sonora Bach Festival. All three bring extensive training and professional experience.
Janet Telford, flutist in the Trio, holds degrees in music from San Francisco State and Penn State Universities. She is the former Executive Director of the Sonora Bach Festival, founder of the San Jose Chamber Music Society, and former co-editor of Music for the Love of It, a newsletter for amateur musicians. She maintains an active, private music-teaching studio.
Ralph Retherford, cellist, was raised in a musical family, his mom being a concert violinist and brother a violist. By 10-years-old he was studying the cello, and eventually performing with the California Youth Symphony. He is active as a solo and ensemble performer. Locally he sings with the Columbia College Community Chorus and with the doo-wop acappella group, Sincerely.
Sandra Betti, flutist and former director of the Sonora Bach Festival, performs extensively throughout the Mother Lode. She is a frequent artist for the Mother Lode Friends of Music Concert Series, plays with the Amador Concert Band, has performed at the National Hotel in Jackson, and for both the St. James Concert Series and the Sonora Bach Festival. In addition to her performing, she gives flute lessons to aspiring musicians, and is the music director at St. Patrick'’ Catholic Church in Sonora.
The musical program will be drawn from their repertoire of chamber music by Bach, Haydn, Telemann, Corelli, Mozart and others.
