Yamilet Valladolid, clinic manager for Livingston Community Health, is the next presenter for Modesto Junior College’s Positive People Speaker Series. The free, public presentation is Thursday, March 22, at 6 p.m. in the Mary Stuart Rogers Student Learning Center on West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave., Modesto. Campus parking is available for $2.

Valladolid was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. Her parents emigrated from Jalisco, Mexico to the United States as newlyweds in order to raise a family and offer more opportunities to their children. Valladolid always knew she wanted to go to college, but did not know anyone in her family who had graduated beyond high school.

Valladolid will share her journey as she faced challenges in life while in pursuit of her education and becoming a community leader.

The speaker series, offered by the MJC Office of Campus Life and Student Learning, features local community members who have overcome challenges and obstacles to achieve their goals. The community is invited to come hear these stories of inspiration and motivation.

The Positive People Speakers Series offers a final spring presentation on April 12 by Emmanuel Escamilla, Code X program founder. For more information about the Positive People Speaker Series contact the Office of Campus Life and Student Learning at (209) 575-6700.
