Annual CoyoteFest Returns To Coulterville In September
coyote fest

The 36th Annual CoyoteFest will take place over two days this year, Saturday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This unique event is a “small town, old timey, family friendly, Americana festival” hosted in Coulterville, Mariposa County, in the heart of the Gold Country.

Coyote attire is highly encouraged. You can get your face painted coyote style (or any other style) in the Coulterville Park either day, buy some coyote ears there, or make your own.

Saturday will start off with a parade at 9:30 a.m., will feature the open class Car Show along Main Street and will have vendors (artisans, food, etc.), the Coyote Howl Contests, live music and entertainment in Coulterville Park. Sunday will feature an open class Motorcycle Show in the park along with vendors and live music. There will be a Beer and Wine Garden in the patio of the Coulter Cafe both days. A new treat this year, Miss Marilyn Von Piston will be at the car show all day for fun photo ops with you and your favorite car.

There’s still time to sign up as a vendor or participant in either the car or bike show or both. Registration forms, details about the events and contact numbers can all be found at coyotefest.org or contact MaryAnn at 209-878-0111 or moonshine.huff @gmail.com. Bikers can call 209-985-6727.

All Coyote Howlers are encouraged to sign up for the Coyote Howling Contest. There are four categories, all with cash prizes. Don’t miss out on this “howling” good time and your chance to take home a prize. Sign up for either the Pups Individual, Pups Pack, Adult Individual or Adult Pack. Each category pays first ($50), second ($30) and third place ($20) winners. The cost to participate is $5 per individual or $10 per group. And brand new this year, a special cash prize of $100 will be given to the overall grand prize-winning howler.

All winners to be determined by an illustrious panel of Howling Judges.

For more information call Leslie Farrow, aka The Howler MC, at 209-852-2481. Sign-ups in the park will take place until about five minutes before each competition.

The CoyoteFest is the largest, most important fundraiser for the Northern Mariposa County History Center, with the funds raised vital to keeping the museum’s doors open.
