Marshall Cody Porter of Hickman and Kristin Michelle Lilly of Oakdale united as husband and wife on August 8, 2009.

The couple wed in an evening ceremony hosted at Hilmar Cheese Company in Hilmar. Presiding over the double ring ceremony was Pastor Chad Allen of River Oak Grace Community Church. A reception followed the ceremony with 200 guests in attendance.

The bride is the daughter of Guy and Nancy Lilly of Oakdale. She is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is an eighth grade teacher with Visalia Unified School District.

The bride wore an ivory and champagne silk duchesse mermaid style satin gown. The gown featured a ruched bodice and beaded detailing on the empire waist and train. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses accented by green hydrangeas, anastasia, bupleurum and berries. She wore her grandmother’s Mother’s ring and carried her mother’s wedding handkerchief. She was given in marriage by her father, Guy Lilly.

Shannon Lilly of Los Angeles is the bride’s sister and was the maid of honor. Jonna Griswold of Oakdale was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Backman, cousin of the bride, and friend Stephanie Harlan of Oakdale, friends Natalie Junqueiro of Modesto, Jenn Deutsch of Huntington Beach, Lisa LeBue of San Luis Obispo, Brooke and Brooke Alvarez of Watsonville. Flower girl was the groom’s niece Mary Jane Porter.

The bridal party wore black strapless, knee length gowns, featuring an empire waist and ruched bodice. They carried bouquets made of green hydrangeas, anastasia, bupleurum and berries, which complemented the bride’s bouquet.

The groom is the son of Jim and Allyson Porter of Hickman. His grandparents are Howard and Beverly Porter of Modesto. He attends American River College where he is pursuing a degree in Funeral Services.

Present as the best men were Jeff Porter, cousin of the groom, of Modesto and Keith Ille, friend of the groom, of Hughson. Groomsmen were Sam Fullen, Justin Norwood and James Norwood, all of Oakdale, and Cody Lane and Jay Franklin, both of Escalon. C.J. Backman, second cousin of the bride, served as usher. Ring bearers were Jacob Backman, second cousin of the bride, and the groom’s nephews, Jimmie Hensley and Justin Hensley.

The couple honeymooned in Las Vegas. They plan to reside in Visalia.
