Volleyball Coaches Sum Up Successful Season

Having had a little bit of time to reflect, Oakdale High School volleyball coaches are looking back at what they consider a successful season.

New head coaches for varsity, Samantha Nickerson and Kellie Gratigny, stepped in to lead the team at the 11 hour and were able to help the varsity girls compile a 6-6 mark in the competitive Valley Oak League. That equated to a fourth place finish in league play.

“It was definitely a learning season for the both of us, but it was fun being back and getting the chance to be a part of the program, but from a new perspective this time,” Nickerson and Gratigny noted. “We were extremely lucky to have such a talented team our first year!”

Varsity assistant coach was Miranda Lamb while Kendra Whorton served as the JV coach and Kaitlin Burke was the freshman coach. Stacy Graham was a program volunteer coach.

Oakdale’s JV girls were second in league and had a great campaign, going 9-3 in the VOL. For the freshmen, they came away with a co-championship with Kimball, as both the youngest Lady Mustangs and the Jaguars went 10-2 in league play.
