Tennis Team Gets Back On Track

The Lady Mustangs had a solid week on the courts, topping Kimball and Weston Ranch in Valley Oak League action.

Against Weston Ranch on Tuesday, Sept. 17, it was a 9-0 shutout for Oakdale, sweeping to the victory. Kendra Branch, Tayla Barry, Jessi Garcia, Alyossa Jingo, Paige Morgan and Nicole Brunker all recorded singles wins. The trio of doubles – Tanna Borba and Katelyn Signorelli, Liz Padilla and Halie Gregory and Fallon Rocha and Morgan Gravatt were all winners as well.

Recording 6-0, 6-0 wins on the day were Branch, Barry, Jingco and Brunker.

“We had an excellent week. We won both of our matches and got back on track to make a run for the playoffs,” said coach Grant Miller.

Thursday, Sept. 19 play against Kimball saw Oakdale capture a 7-2 win. The losses both came in singles play, Morgan falling by a 3-6, 1-6 decision and Garcia taking a hard fought 4-6, 5-7 loss.

Winners in singles play were Barry, Branch, Jingco and Brunker.

It was a clean sweep for the doubles teams, again with Borba and Signorelli teaming up, as did Padilla and Gregory. Rocha teamed with Emma Lowe for a win in doubles play.
