Softball squad notches one win in three non-league games

A non-conference softball showdown took place on Wednesday, April 3 in Fresno when Oakdale traveled to take on Central. Down 4-3 entering the seventh inning, the varsity Lady Mustangs rallied past the Grizzlies with a three-run inning to beat the home team 6-4.

Audrey Romiti had two hits and drove in three runs. Madi Bohannon and Briley Everett also drove in a run each. Presley Barnes and Romiti each had a double for the Mustangs. Raegen Everett pitched a complete game; she gave up four earned runs, scattered 10 hits, walked six batters and struck out a pair.

Oakdale also participated in a tournament on Saturday, April 6. In the opener, the softball girls lost to Notre Dame 3-2. The difference was a two-run home run by Adiah Fountain. For Oakdale, Morgan Wright and Madi Bohannon each had an RBI. The girls had a total of just five hits: Jaelyn Lee, Raegen Everett, Romiti, Barnes and Bohannon each had a hit. Raegen Everett pitched a complete game for Oakdale as she gave up four hits, three earned runs, walked two and struck out a pair. They doubled back for a second game in the afternoon but could not get much going offensively, as they were shut out 1-0 by Alameda. The lone run in the contest came in the fifth inning. Oakdale had three total hits in the game.

This week, the varsity girls return to Valley Oak League play. Oakdale entered the week with a 2-0 record in league, 12-4 overall. On Thursday, April 11 Oakdale will travel to Manteca to take on the host Lady Buffaloes at 4 p.m.
