Runners, Walkers Encouraged To Join Osborne Memorial
Runners

Slated for this coming weekend, the Oakdale Lions Club is hosting the 31st annual Don Osborne Memorial Run. Both a 5k run and a one-mile run/walk will be offered, with race day set for Saturday, Feb. 4.

Race day registration will be available on site at a cost of $25.

The race begins and ends at the William Meyer Park area, at East G Street and South Second Avenue, Oakdale, behind the Oakdale Library. The course is on flat, paved city streets with traffic control provided. The run is held, rain or shine, and organizers are hoping for a good crowd to fill the race route this year.

There are separate male and female divisions and age groups for each race. The one-mile run/walk categories are five and under; 6 to 9; 10 to 12; 13 to 15; 16 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 to 69; 70 to 79; and 80-plus.

The age divisions are the same for the 5k run, with the exception of no age category for five and under in that race.

Awards are presented following the conclusion of both races. There are gift certificates presented to the overall male and female winners in both races along with medal awards for the top three finishers in each age division of the two races. Light snacks, fruit and juice will be available to all participants.

Race day registration and packet pick up runs from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.

Those taking part in the one-mile run/walk step off at 9 a.m.; participants in the 5k will start their race at 9:30 a.m.
