The World of Outlaws STP sprint car series will invade the new Stockton 99 speedway dirt track on March 22 to feature many popular stars, including Cody Darrah, Joey Saldana, Steve and Kraig Kinser, Sammy Swindell, 2012 season Series Champion Donny Schatz, 2012 season Series Runner-up Craig Dollansky and many others, along with a list of local area drivers.

Oh and Tony Stewart.

The NASCAR veteran and racing celebrity will make the trip from Southern California, where he will be qualifying his NASCAR Sprint Cup car for the Auto Club 400 run on Sunday of the same weekend.

Stewart came up through the ranks driving sprint cars, much like these World of Outlaws cars. He qualified on the pole for the 1996 Indianapolis 500 and attained his best finish of 5th in 1997. He has captured three NASCAR Sprint Car Series season championships (2002, 2005 and 2011).

These open wheeled race cars are some of the wildest cars ever to run on oval dirt tracks, identified by their large over the driver compartment wings and front wheels up speed drifting racing styles through the corners. The World of Outlaws STP sprint cars are known as the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ due to their wild, extremely close racing and general on-track mayhem.

The event will be held at the new Stockton 99 dirt track facility, located at the San Joaquin county fairgrounds in Stockton. Gates open at 1 p.m. and racing is under the lights.
