There hasn’t been a much easier selection for Athlete of the Week since the invention of the wheel. Oakdale senior Marcus Northcutt ran for 221 yards on 10 carries, broke loose for rushes of 92 and 80 yards and tallied two touchdown runs in a victory over Sonora on Nov. 2.

Northcutt also scampered for a dazzling 65-yard punt return in a game that awarded Oakdale an unbeaten stanza through the Valley Oak League and a sixth straight conference title. The senior standout was needless to say a common-sense choice for Athlete of the Week selection from The Leader and looks to continue his outstanding production as the team moves deeper into the playoffs.
