The final selection from The Leader for the 2011-12 school year as Athlete of the Week goes to none other than Oakdale High senior Manny Hernandez, who has nailed the honor four times now in 2012 and twice in the past three weeks. And he couldn’t be more deserving.

Hernandez soared to a 6 foot, 11¼ inch high jump personal best at the California Interscholastic Federation Track and Field State Championships to finish with the top overall mark and third place medal among the best prep athletes in the state. He holds the school record in the event and represents perhaps the most successful season of any track athlete in program history.
