Spectacular boys golf and track and field performances proved impressive during recent play for Oakdale High athletes. Following is a summary of results.

Boys Golf

Oakdale improved to 6-2 in conference play by toppling Kimball in consecutive matches. The second was a 221-263 victory at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club on March 28.

Isaac Rellamas carded a sharp 37 to steal medalist honor while Ian Stogdell shot a 40. Isaac Valdez turned in a 45 while Nathan Lute came through with a 46. Logan Schultz (53) and Dominic Fauria (59) also recorded scores.

“We are doing a good job,” Oakdale coach Lee McGhee said on Monday. “The guys are doing a good job following their score and working as a team.”

Oakdale will look to avenge their prior losses to Sierra and East Union when hosting the teams on April 16 and 23, respectively. The team is at the Pitman Invitational on April 8.

“We don’t want anyone to come onto our course and do anything to us there,” McGhee said. “You always want to get back at somebody who takes you down.”

Track and Field

The Oakdale girls rolled to an exciting team championship at the Modesto Junior College Invitational after dazzling marks in several events on March 30.

Kellie Gratigny won both the high jump and long jump and was third in the triple jump. She joined Dezirae Pennington, Jennifer Guzman and Melody Johnson on the second-place 400 relay team.

Pennington was also first in the triple jump, second in the 300 hurdles and second in the 110 hurdles. Brooke Wong, Grace Perreira, Alyssa Perigen and Sarah Courtney went 1, 2, 3, 4 in the pole vault while Perreira won the discus, was third in the shot and Perigen ended third in the long jump. Kai Tanner was also second in the shot put (Jessica Gonzales was fourth).

For boys, Erik Ruiz won the shot put while Nick Ruiz captured the junior varsity shot put. Brynden McAndrews won the pole vault while Brock Whiting snared the JV triple jump and JV 400. Spencer Thomas was fifth in the 100 and 200 while Chris Davis ended fourth in the 200 and third in the 400.
