Cal State Stanislaus women’s soccer head coach Gabriel Bolton recently introduced an addition to his staff as Oakdale coach Callum Lester, a former professional in the U.K., joined the team as the goalkeeper coach.

Lester played for the Scunthorpe United of the Championship League. The center defender also played at the University of Lincoln.

He is a longtime Oakdale youth soccer coach, working with a variety of travel ball teams. Lester’s soccer camps have gained notoriety for stacked attendance throughout the Central Valley.

“We are very fortunate to have Callum joining our staff,” Bolton said. “In a very short time he has already transformed many aspects of our program.

“He has tremendous knowledge of technology and is able to integrate it with soccer very well.”

Over the past several years, Lester has worked both as the Director of Coaching at East Valley FC in Oakdale and as a coach on the 24-7 UK Soccer Academy staff in Fremont. He has also served as the head coach at Waterford High School (2011-2012) and Oakdale Youth Soccer League’s director of coaching (2011-12).

“In addition to being a talented goalkeeper coach, he will also help us in many areas such as recruiting, sports psychology and technical skill development,” Bolton added.

The Warriors begin preseason practices on Aug. 17 and open their regular season on Sept. 5 against Simon Fraser at Warrior Stadium.
