With eight youth swim teams vying for top honors in a host of events across several age divisions at the Oakdale Aquatic Center, the host Gators stretched to achieve top honors in four races on Saturday during the annual Oakdale Invitational.
In all Oakdale saw 28 top-5 finishes among the tough field of competitors.
Thomas Torres led the way by winning the 11-12 50 meter back with a 37.06 second time. He was also second in the 50 free. Dustin VandenBosch also won the 50 breast after a 42.47 time and was second in the 100 free as well.
Brandon Terwilliger was first in the 17-18 100 back. He placed second in the 100 I.M. and second in the 100 fly. Chris Terwilliger was first in the 17-18 100 back and touched third in the 100 I.M. and fourth in the 100 free.
Nate Van Cleave (13-14) landed top five in the 50 back (third), 50 breast (fourth) and 100 I.M. (fifth) as well. Andrew Copland (six-and-under) was second in the 25 free and third in the 25 back. Victoria Blanc (six-and-under) ended second in the 25 back and was fourth in the 50 free. Caden Nord (9-10) was also third in the 50 free and fifth in the 50 breast.
Bianca Varela (fifth, 13-14 50 fly), Concetta Hurst (third, 11-12 50 back), Christopher Kjeldgaard (fourth, 7-8 25 breast), Kate Allen (fourth, 11-12 50 breast) and Chandler Neal (fifth, 7-8 25 free) also swam well to make the top five.
Oakdale tackles a tri-meet in Tracy on Saturday, June 18 to continue the youth swim season.
