Annual Junior Rodeo Upcoming

The Oakdale Saddle Club hosts the Annual Junior Rodeo on Saturday, Aug. 18 followed by NorCal Junior Rodeo on Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Oakdale Rodeo Grounds.

The performances will feature all the spills and thrills of professional rodeo, but these athletes range between the ages of six to 18. These young cowboys and cowgirls will compete for cash and prizes in event such as Calf Riding, Bull Riding, Chute Dogging Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying and more. New events added this year are the non-sanctioned Bareback Riding and Saddle Bronc Riding.

Pee Wee Events for boys and girls for ages up to 5-years-old include Dummy Roping, Stick Horse Racing and Goat Undressing. These Pee Wee events are a great way to introduce youngsters to the sport of rodeo and parents are encouraged to register for these events early. Check-in for Pee Wee events begins at 6 a.m. and these events start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The Oakdale Saddle Club Annual Junior Rodeo begins at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18. NorCal Junior Rodeo competition gets under way at 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Oakdale Rodeo Grounds. Food concessions and other vendors will be on hand.

The two day event is also free to the public with no charge for parking and is sure to be a crowd pleaser. No ice chest or coolers please, and no dogs will be allowed.
