Varsity Soccer Girls Drop Two

After winning their first Valley Oak League game a week ago, the varsity soccer girls returned to action but came up short in two contests. Oakdale (3-11, 1-6) were shut out by Kimball (5-10-1, 3-3-1) on Tuesday, Jan. 17 by a score of 3-0 at home and lost by a 5-1 final to visiting Central Catholic (8-3-1, 5-1) just two days later.

In the team’s loss to Central Catholic, Oakdale’s lone goal came unassisted on an impressive 35 yard free kick in the second half. Oakdale trailed 2-0 at the break and could not slow down the second place Raiders as they scored three goals in the second to pull away. With seven games remaining in the season, Oakdale looks to play spoiler in the Valley Oak League as the team turns their attention towards Manteca, East Union and at Sierra this week. The tough three game stretch for the this week included hosting Manteca (9-3-1, 3-1-0) on Tuesday, Jan. 24 following The Leader’s press time. Oakdale will host East Union (8-3-1, 4-1-1) on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. and travel to take on first place Sierra (15-2-0, 6-1-0) on Tuesday evening, Jan. 31 with the game currently scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

 

JUNIOR VARSITY

In their lone game this past week, Oakdale’s JV girls fell to visiting Kimball 3-0 on Tuesday evening. Oakdale (4-3) earned a forfeit victory over Central Catholic two days later. Oakdale hosted Manteca on Tuesday evening, following The Leader’s press time and will host East Union on Thursday with a scheduled start time of 4 p.m.

Next week, they will travel to Sierra on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
