After a three week hiatus from The Corral, the youth football teams returned home to host the Merced Cougars. Oakdale Stampede varsity and junior varsity teams racked up week eight victories over the weekend.

Oakdale’s varsity team shut out the winless visitors from Merced 53-0 to improve to 7-1 overall on the season, and are now tied for first place with the Buhach Thunder. Oakdale has outscored opponents 344-124 on the season. Oakdale will host the Turlock Bulldogs (2-6) Saturday at The Corral. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The junior varsity also shut out the Cougars (5-3) by a final of 42-0. With the win Oakdale improved to 7-1 on the year and will host Turlock (7-1) on Saturday. Defense has been the identity for both teams this season as Oakdale has allowed a total of 56 points this season, while the Bulldogs have given up 52 through eight games. The anticipated showdown is set for 5 p.m.

Oakdale’s PeeWee club found themselves on the wrong end of a shutout this past weekend, as Oakdale fell 32-0 to the first place Cougars (6-2). Oakdale is now 3-5 on the season and look to turn it around against the 3-5 Bulldogs on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
