For the third straight Valley Oak League (VOL) tournament of the season, Oakdale exited as winners. On Tuesday, Sept. 25 the girls went to Tracy Golf and Country Club to play in the third VOL tournament. Just like they did in the previous two, the Lady Mustangs found themselves on top of the leaderboard through 18 holes.
As a team Oakdale shot 438 on the day, while Kimball shot 521 and placed second.
Taylor Stewart finished in first place overall with an 82. Madison Blanc posted an 86 and Makayla Christensen shot 89. Andrea York shot 90 for Oakdale and both Allie Denning and Lynn Layton each finished with 91.
“Overall our team is continuing to improve and strengthening their endurance both physically and mentally,” said head coach Jeremy Fields. “Our league matches are 18 holes now which is great, because it is preparing our girls to compete in the league championship tournament and hopefully beyond into the playoffs. This opportunity has been a good change for us to compete in that format more often and feel that demand of competition in the regular season. We are continuing to grind and prepare ourselves to do our best at each tournament forthcoming.”
The following day; Oakdale hosted Kimball in a non-league scrimmage contest. In the scrimmage Shealynn Hanrahan, Allie Denning, Kailea Fogleman, Chloe Liekus, Makena Mendonca and Anna Holmes all got to play nine holes for Oakdale.
This week Oakdale will travel to Manteca Park Golf Course for the Sierra Invite on Wednesday, Oct. 3. On Monday, Oct. 8 Oakdale will host the fourth and final VOL tournament of the season at Oakdale Golf and Country Club. The 18-hole tournament is scheduled for 11 a.m.
