A doubles tennis tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 13 at the Oakdale High School tennis courts. Action will get underway at 9 a.m., according to coordinator Payton Avila, a junior at Oakdale High School.

The tournament costs $30 to enter per person to cover the expenses either through Venmo to the tournament coordinator @Payton-Avila-1 or in cash when they check in to the event, and the profits will go to support River Oak Grace Community Church.

“People can enter as individuals to be partnered up or as a partnership already. There will also be other games set up for recreational use during the tournament,” Avila explained. “I think that this will be a great way for local tennis players to find others to play with and develop a sense of community.”

Avila has also worked recently in cooperation with the City of Oakdale Recreation Department, putting on free tennis clinics on Saturdays to introduce area youngsters to the sport.
