Busy Week On Pitch For Oakdale Soccer Girls

Three games in five days is what the Oakdale High School girls soccer team had this past week. The girls played Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening.

On Monday night the girls defeated visiting Weston Ranch (0-12-2, 0-6-0) by an 8-0 final. Oakdale (5-5-2, 2-4-0) had two goals apiece from Kendra Branch and Ximena Vigil. Daniela Dela Riva, Jade Manriquez, Kiara Vigil and Trisha French each scored one. Dela Riva had two assists, Ruby Fink, Julie Overton, Maquel Besson, Kendra Branch and Kassandra Rodriguez each had an assist in the game.

On Wednesday, Jan. 15 Oakdale lost to Kimball (10-6-1, 4-1-1) by a score of 3-0. The varsity Lady Mustangs finished the week strong with a 2-0 road win over Central Catholic (3-6-2, 1-5-0).

Wednesday night, Jan. 22 the girls will travel to Manteca (13-1-3, 4-1-1) to face the Buffaloes. Last time these two teams met, Manteca edged the Mustangs 3-2 in December. Friday night, Jan. 27 Oakdale will travel to take on East Union (5-7-2, 3-3-0) for the second time this season. The Lancers defeated Oakdale 3-1 in December. Both Valley Oak League games are scheduled for 5:45 p.m.

For the junior varsity girls, meanwhile, it was a very successful week. Three games resulted in three shutout victories for Oakdale.

The JV Lady Mustangs blanked Weston Ranch 7-0, Kimball 1-0 and Central Catholic 8-0. Against the Jaguars, the lone goal came from Alondra Hernandez Vigil. Hernandez Vigil continued her offensive attack as she scored two goals against Central Catholic on Friday night. Mikayla Notaro, Jocelyn Rivera, Payton Obermeyer, Kassandra Carlos, Tessa James and Karli Jericoff scored the rest of the goals for Oakdale in the big 8-0 win.
