Survivor Success Story

Dear Editor,

We would like to take a minute and thank Oakdale Fire Station #5 for graciously letting Oakdale’s Relay for Life host the annual Survivor Luncheon at their station on March 31. It was the largest turnout since Oakdale started hosting this event and it has very much to do with the location and the hospitality of the fire station. The Survivor and Caregiver Committee would also like to thank Ted and Cheryl Gilton, as well as Bachi’s Restaurant and Gwen Schmitt for their donations towards the luncheon. This was a community event, and it definitely took a community of people to make this a success. We are thankful to all that were involved.

As a reminder to the community, we would like you all to keep in mind that this year’s Relay For Life will take place on the 28th and 29th of April at Oakdale High School. Opening ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28 and will be followed by the Survivor Lap. To all the survivors and caregivers in Oakdale, please come out to Relay and stop by the Survivor Tent and Caregiver Corner. We can’t wait to see all of you there!

Sincerely,
Stevie Rae Cordoza,
Tessa Gilton,
