Misplaced Blame

Dear Editor,

Although it seems in vogue to blame the city budget woes on the current administration, this situation did not occur overnight. When a city experiences the growth that Oakdale has in the last two decades, rarely does the revenue received cover the cost of the services and infrastructure needed to support such growth. The end result was predictable and can be traced directly to the pro growth Bruce Bannerman-led administrations of the past. Fortunately the current administration has decided to cut some of the highly paid redundant top heavy positions instead of the services and positions needed to run the day to day business of the city and pave the way back to solvency.
