Dear Editor,
As we experience these difficult economic days, it would be easy to ignore community members less fortunate, but that does not happen in Oakdale. We at Oakdale Community Sharing Christian Center are indebted to individual citizens, local organizations, and merchants who support our program in a monetary way as well as providing food and clothing items. The contributions by the Oakdale community exemplifies the proverb that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Recently Oakdale Community Sharing Center was the recipient of over six tons of food items from Curves, our local Post Office “Fighting Hunger Program” and from the Cowboys ‘n Chocolate Festival. These food drives will go a long way in supplementing our food pantry to distribute food to approximately 180 families each week.
