Book Sale Success
Letters to Editor

Dear Editor,

The Friends of the Oakdale Library recently held their 51st annual used book sale at the Bianchi Community Center. The event far exceeded our expectations.

Our wonderful community donated over 15,000 books most of which were sold for $1.00 or less to the public.

The monies raised will support programs and needs at the Oakdale Library.

Our additional objective was to raise literacy awareness and afford the community the opportunity to purchase books that might otherwise be beyond their means.

Books should be circulated and read by as many people as possible, not gather dust on a shelf.

Thank you to our event chairman, Frank Clark, the City of Oakdale, Raley’s, Oakdale Irrigation District, Café Bliss, Curves, Gilton Solid Waste, Oakdale High School Club Interact, Oakdale Library, and the many members of our community who donated books, volunteered their time, or otherwise participated in our successful event.
