Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter as a citizen of Oakdale to express my support of Measure Y.

In addition to being a citizen of Oakdale, I am also the Chairperson for the current Measure O Citizens Oversight Committee. Over the last 24 plus months, this Committee has been charged with providing a degree of oversight and accountability for the funds received from Measure O. I feel it’s important to point out that Oversight Committee is not the only entity charged with reviewing the use/s of the Measure O funds. A Stanislaus County Grand Jury was also appointed to review the use/s of the Measure O funds. Just like the Measure O committee, the Grand Jury found that the monies were used as the Oversight Committee, and thus, the community, expected them to be.

As a result of many Committee meetings, it became crystal clear that without the $1,500,000+ generated by Measure O the City of Oakdale would be in dire straits in 2014.

What the citizens of Oakdale must realize, is that without Measure Y the City of Oakdale will unquestionably face insolvency and very possibly follow in the footsteps of Stockton by filing bankruptcy in fiscal year 2015-2016.

The look and feel of this wonderful community would be very different today without Measure O. And without Measure Y, the City of Oakdale will change in ways that few can imagine, or would want to experience. This is not a hypothetical, or maybe situation. This is the reality facing the City of Oakdale and its citizens.

I cannot stress strongly enough how important it is for the community to support and vote Yes on Measure Y.

Sincerely,

Scott Hogg
