Wilma Caldwell K

Wilma passed away in Rancho Cordova on Saturday, November 4. She was the beloved mother of Bill Caldwell and Cheryl (Tim) McManigal; devoted grandmother to Valerie (Mark) Wallace, William “Billy” (Megan) Caldwell, Lindsey (Mario) McManigal, Ashley (David) Richey, and Megan (Nathan) Phillips; great-grandmother to Keith Jay Caldwell; sister to Jeanette Barnette; and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Wilma was born in Oakdale and raised on First Avenue by her parents, William and Julia (Rod) McCune, long-time residents of Oakdale. After graduating from Oakdale High School in 1949, she attended Modesto Junior College. After getting married, she became a State Park Ranger’s wife, living in various state parks throughout the state. She always had a hot pot of coffee and homemade cookies available for the rangers. Wilma was supportive of her children’s activities, serving as room mother, Cub Scout Den Mother, and Chairman of Hospitality of Bethel #74, all while working full-time. Through the years, she worked for Bank of America, Crocker, and Wells Fargo, from which she retired in 1976.
Wilma will be remembered for her love of her family, her quick wit, her bright smile, and yes, her cookies.
