William Lester Odom, also known as “Bill,” of Riverbank, Ca passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, in Manteca, Ca. He was born on January 2, 1922 in Van Buren County, Arkansas to Marshall and Mary Odom. He grew up farming with his two brothers Clifford and Jr (Ray), and his two sisters Gladys and Bertha. He married the love of his life Pauline Nidever.
He lived in Riverbank, Ca for over 60 years and retired from Del Rio Golf Course. He took pride in work, as he loved his job as a groundsman and mechanic for Del Rio. In his spare time, you could find Bill fishing, or at the horse races also known as the “track.” He enjoyed both very much.
Bill is preceded in his death by his wife, Pauline Odom, his brother, Clifford Odom, his sisters, Gladys Beard and Bertha Chapman, his daughter, Billie Jean Borba, and his sons, Michael Lee and Terry Lee Odom. He is survived by his brother, Jr (Ray) Odom, his daughters Betty Joe Johnson (and son-in-law Jack) and Brenda Sue Clinkinbeard, his daughter-in-law Nancy Odom (wife of Michael Lee); 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 7, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 West F St. Oakdale, Ca. The Memorial Service will be Friday, September 8, 10 a.m. at Oakdale Memorial, Chapel, 830 West F St. Oakdale, Ca.
A reception will be held after the service.
