William J. Padgett, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 22.

He worked for AL Gilbert in Oakdale for 25 years. He also rented a ranch in Oakdale on Orange Blossom Road where he and Bud Hunt had a business called B and B cattle. He enjoyed raising beef cattle.

Mr. Padgett also had a band and he loved to sing, it was something he looked forward to every week. He also enjoyed planting a garden every year. The thing he loved most was spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Community Hospice provided comfort to his family.

He was an avid sports fan but the team he loved the most was the Sacramento Kings.

He is survived by his daughters, Shelly Gentry, Tammy Courtroul, Kimberly Woolsey, all of Oakdale, Linda Walker, and Susie Barnwell of Modesto; sisters, Z Darlene Bettencourt, Rosella Foster; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; nine nephews; and 11 nieces.

A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 401 East F St., Oakdale. Food and beverages will be provided.
