Stanley R. Lowry, 89, of Oakdale died Saturday, Feb. 22 at Oak Valley Care Center.

He was born the youngest of five children to parents Wilburt and Lena Lowry in their home on I Street.

He enlisted into the Army in April 1943 and served in the Philippines until he was discharged in November 1945. When he returned, he drove truck for the family trucking business, which later became Lowry Bros. Trucking. They hauled milk into the Oakdale Hershey’s plant. He retired from the trucking business in 1980.

Mr. Lowry loved to golf and was on many bowling teams. He enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the Oakland A’s, play. He really enjoyed his day trips to Black Oak Casino with his niece Dianne and caregiver Joy.

He never married, but he had a best friend and companion for life in Charlotte Carter.

He is survived by his nephew, Dan (Carol) Lowry; nieces, Michelle Lowry, Dianne (Bob) Pennell, Jackie (Albert) Johnson; and numerous caregivers.

He was preceded in death by his companion, Charlotte Carter; his parents; and all of his siblings.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 6 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 West F St.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7 at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery, 701 East J St.
