With profound sadness and sorrow, we announce the passing of Sharyn M. Wright, our loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Friend.
Born in North Dakota, November 15, 1937, to Martin and Selma Hatzenbiler, her family moved and settled in Nevada. Sharyn attended Sparks High School, achieving high academic honors, she excelled in school activities like: Cheerleader, Pep Squad, Student Body Officer, Historian, F.H.A., F.T.A., Banners, Drama Club, Honor Society and many more.
After graduation Sharyn married “the love of her life” George Wright. On their honeymoon they moved to California to begin a journey that would span over 65 wonderful years. They had three children (Toni, Skip, Lori) and settled in the Central Valley. Sharyn earned her teaching degree and went to work for Modesto City School District, Sharyn and George bought an almond ranch in Oakdale, CA and as of today still call it home. Being a farm girl at heart, her love for the ranch grew with every passing day watching their kids grow up and enjoyed it even more with the grandchildren.
Sharyn’s remarkable business and financial sense and with George’s knowledge and drive together as partners they set out to make their dreams a reality. In 1975 they successfully owned and operated Mid-Cal Construction Company. Sharyn retired from teaching after 22 years and decided to open Oakdale Recycling Center. She was a trail blazer for women, owning and operating this line of business was rare for a woman. A journalist got wind of this story and took the opportunity to write about her, making front page news titled “WOMEN TO WATCH IN BUSINESS”. Excelling in the field of recycling Sharyn made the decision after 20 years to retire and sold the business. She wanted to spend her days farming almonds side by side with George.
Sharyn’s life was an amazing journey that lasted a lifetime, living every dream and loving life. The love of her family was her SHINING MOMENT, family was everything! Knowing, Sharyn was an honor and a privilege, her smile was illuminating, her laugh was infectious, her personality was magnanimous! Sharyn touched so many people in her 82 amazing years.
This family with the heaviest of hearts, say THANK YOU, FAREWELL and WE LOVE YOU, until we are together again. Keep the porch light on …
Sharyn is survived by her husband, partner and best friend George H. Wright, her children Toni Calistro (Gary Calistro), George (Skip) H. Wright III (Sue Kirsch), Lori Wright Vegas (Robert Stombaugh) and her grandchildren Joshua Wright, Jessica Terczynski, Cyndi Hamerton, Justin Wright, Tim Wilson Jr., Tanya Wilson Parish and six great grandchildren.

There will be a private family only service, and a Celebration of life to follow in October 2020 by invitation. The family requests in lieu of flowers please donate to: Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
