Oakdale – Rosemarie Cline, a longtime resident of Oakdale, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Oak Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a six-year battle with cancer.
Born in 1946 in Tacoma, Wash., Rosemarie’s family moved to Clarke County, Iowa when she was two and she grew up on a farm outside of Murray. She received her high school diploma from Clarke Community High School in Osceola in 1965 and received a nursing degree from Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines in 1968. She later went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from College of St. Francis. Rosemarie worked as a registered nurse at various hospitals and clinics in the Midwest and California for over 40 years. Most recently, she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton at the nurse call center prior to retiring in 2011.
Having lived in rural Iowa for most of her life, Rosemarie took a chance and moved across the country in the fall of 1969 to San Jose. It was there that she met her husband, Ken, a school teacher, and they were married in 1972. They went on to raise two children and were married for 27 years until he passed in 1999.
Rosemarie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, keeping up on current events, and appreciating nature. She had a heart for animals and a kind, gentle spirit.
She leaves behind her brother, Gary Burgus, of Glenwood, Iowa; son, Christopher Cline, daughter-in-law, Vanessa Piccinini, and grandson Lucas of Mountain House; her daughter, Emily Cline, son-in-law, Kevin Tinkle, and granddaughters Grace and Elizabeth of Clovis; step-children Cynthia Cline of Santa Cruz, Pamela Cline and Robert Cline of San Jose; and numerous in-law relatives, cousins and friends.

On Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. a Celebration of Life service will be held at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 W. F St. She will be interred next to her husband at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery during a private ceremony.
