Norma Atwood, 93, died Saturday, April 12.

She was born to Vincent and Nina Marchetti. The family moved back to Oakdale when she was four years old to what was known as the Italian colony on Rodden Road. She graduated from Oakdale High School in 1938.

In 1942 she moved to and worked in Stockton, where she met Doug Atwood. They were married in 1948. They moved back to Oakdale in 1956 where they operated Atwood Jewelry Store for 26 years.

Mrs. Atwood had a close group of friends with whom she played bridge for many years. Most of them had been friends since high school.

She was a classy lady with a beautiful smile and was loved by many.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Atwood of Oakdale; nephews, William (Marilyn) Meyer of Modesto, Robert (Linda) Meyer of Oakdale; one great-niece; and four great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Doug Atwood; sister, Lena (Marchetti) Meyer; brother, Sam Marchetti, both of Oakdale.

A celebration of life will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 25 at H-B Saloon.
