Neal Arlen Muncill, 81, of Oakdale, was born in El Centro CA to J.D. Muncill and Velma Muncill (McMullen). They moved to Modesto when he was a young boy. In his high school years at Modesto High he was involved in Track and Shot Put and held many records in these sports. He also played Varsity Football beginning his sophomore year. Neal was a Korean War Veteran. He enjoyed many activities throughout his life including car racing at the 99 speedway in Stockton. He taught his son Rick how to work on the race cars, motorcycles and eventually the two built Rick a 1930 Ford Coupe. Neal was also the coach of his youngest son Gregg’s hockey team and one year they made it all the way to the National’s. He also loved camping, fishing, hunting and riding dirt bikes with his family. He retired from the Women’s Correctional Facility in Chowchilla, CA. After his retirement he enjoyed mining and panning for gold and had many active claims. He was also a member of the Modesto Moose Lodge.
Neal is survived by his first wife Elvera Muncill, sons Richard Muncill (Rosalind), Gregg Muncill; stepdaughter Trudy Martyn; brother Bill Muncill, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wives Mary Ellen Muncill and Norma Jean Muncill, parents, brothers Ray Muncill and Jim Muncill.
A graveside memorial will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Oakdale, CA.
