Nancy Lynn Mata-Nevel, 47, died Sunday, March 6 at Las Vegas Hospital.

She was born in Modesto. She was a native of the Sonora area for 22 years.

Mrs. Nevel was a homemaker and a wonderful mother. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was proud of her family and everything she had.

She enjoyed being outdoors and her Father’s Day weekend camping trip with family every year.

She is survived by her husband, Gerry Nevel of Big Hills; children, Gerry Nevel, Jr., Justin Mata-Nevel, Joshua Nevel; siblings, Rachel Mata-Johnson, Ben Mata-Sanders, both of Oakdale; and three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Alexia and Kayden of Big Hills.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benito Mata, Sr.; mother, Linda Mata; sisters, Rebecca Mata-Costa and Nina Mata of Oakdale.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 3 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Escalon Sportsmen’s Club, 25195 East River Road. Family and friends welcome.
