Monsignor Aloys Conrad Gruber, 71, of Oakdale died Thursday, Nov. 7 at Serenity Gardens, Oakdale.

Monsignor Gruber was a native of Modesto. He was a priest of the Diocese of Stockton for over 40 years. He attended St. Stanislaus School, graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Mountain View and completed his education at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park. He was ordained May 6, 1967 at Annunciation Cathedral in Stockton and served at Our Lady of Fatima, Modesto, Presentation, Stockton, St. Patrick’s, Angels Camp, St. Luke’s, Stockton and St. Mary’s, Oakdale.

Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oakdale, and at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 at St. Stanislaus Church on Maze Boulevard, Modesto. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at the Cathedral of the Annunciation, Stockton, with interment following at San Joaquin Cemetery, Stockton.
