Mary Angela Hofmann, 56, of Oakdale died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 9 surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

She was born in Patterson on Oct. 2, 1956 to Ina and George S. Bettencourt and was raised in Newman until she moved to Modesto in 1968. She attended Grace M. Davis High School and Modesto Junior College.

She worked for Moore Business Forms for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Hofmann was loved and will be remembered by her children. She was a loving, caring, and giving person. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always kept her family as her first priority. She loved the ocean and collecting seashells and rocks.

Survivors include her husband of more than 27 years, Robert Scott Hofmann; her father, George S. Bettencourt; children, Keith (Lisa Hemmingway) Townsend, Lauren (Clint) Hunt; sisters, Kathleen (Chris Hare) Bettencourt, Sandra (Kurt Kassahn) Bettencourt, all of Washington, Susan (David Boucher) Bettencourt-Rein of Virginia; brother, George S. (Dawn) Bettencourt of California; Dorthy Hofmann, Steve (Ellen) Hofmann, Norma Hofmann, Julie Longworth; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Fedora Townsend, Brielle Hunt; and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ina Bettencourt; and father-in-law, Carl Hofmann, Jr.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. A small reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association.
