Leonel Ray ‘Sonny’ Ward, 77, died Sunday, Feb. 28 at Oak Valley Hospital.

He was a native of Idaho. He lived in Oakdale 20 years.

Mr. Ward served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a general contractor for five years.

He loved to play golf, fish, and be with friends and family.

He is survived by his children, Andrea Powell of Oakdale and Mark Ward of San Diego; sister, Vola Brandow of Manteca; brothers, Cyril Ward and Gordon Ward, both of Manteca; one granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ada Ward.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
