Lawrence Larry Joseph Alves

Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Alves, age 72, of Copperopolis, CA passed away on October 26, 2014 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. He was born in Dos Palos, CA on May 1, 1942 to the late Frank and Kay Alves, Jr. Larry was a resident of Calaveras County for the past 19 years. As a young man, Larry was drafted into the US Army, where he received an honorable discharge in 1966. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his family.   

     He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Eva; his son, John Joseph; daughters, Constance and Stephanie.

     Larry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis Alves of Copperopolis, CA; daughters, Tammie Sousa of Coos Bay, OR, Cindy Rosa of Turlock, CA, Shelly Weathers of Los Banos, CA, Heidi Costanzo of Valley Ford, CA, and Kristen Alves of Oakland, CA; brothers, Ed Alves, Harry Alves and Henry Alves all of Dos Palos; sister, Nancy DeSa of Gustine, CA; grandsons, Kaylyn Weathers of Sacramento, CA, Michael Rosa of Turlock, Parker and Preston Costanzo of Valley Ford, CA; granddaughters, Michelle Boice of Coos Bay, OR, Marsha Walker of Ripon, CA, Samantha Rosa of Turlock, CA, Katesin Weathers of Sacramento, CA, and Stefanie Rosa of Turlock, CA.

     A visitation will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Fierro Family Funeral Home beginning at 6:00pm with the Rosary being said at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be Monday, November 3, 2014 at 12:00pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by burial at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
